| Holstein Canada, with the assistance of a federal BSE recovery program, is pleased to announce a number of exciting initiatives designed to help current and prospective Association clients position themselves for a profitable future in the dairy industry. These new programs and support materials will be introduced over the next few months. The first two programs to be launched by Holstein Canada are as follows: - Registration Rebate Members who register calves during the 2005 calendar year at 75% purity and higher will receive a $3.00 credit to their Holstein Canada account for each calf registered. The credit will be applied to their accounts early in 2006.
- Registration Catch-up Already effective December 1, breeders are not paying penalty fees on late registrations. Holstein Canada encourages producers with older animals not registered to do so as soon as possible. This program runs until June 30, 2006.
Other Initiatives - Early in 2006, Holstein Canada will be announcing details of a new herd enrollment program. Its design encourages Holstein dairymen to participate in breed and herd improvement programs. Watch for further details on this exciting new breed development initiative.
- Holstein Canada is pleased to announce the creation of four new contract staff positions. These 15-month contracts will begin early in 2006 and end in March 2007. Business development specialists, they will work closely with all industry partners to visit non-member herds and promote all breed improvement programs.
- Other support materials and breed development tools will be developed and distributed to industry partners throughout 2006.
